R.I.P Princess Jasmine

Cynthia Johnson better known as Princess Jasmine passed away this morning at 7:45 am. Jasmine was a CAC member and was honored this year at the annual reunion. Jasmine had battled cancer for a good while and was unable to attend this years reunion. Her award was fed-ex over night to her following the reunion.

Jasmine was well known in the wrestling world. She had worked for the AWA,NWA,WCW,WWF and tons of Independent promoters. Had feuds in the Caribbean’s, Japan, Africa, the Philippines, Korea, Middle East, and all over the United States & Canada. Trained by Prince Pullins and Dick the Bruiser in 1968, her first match was just three months after training.

More information will be added to the cac website as soon as all arrangements are complete.

The Cauliflower Alley Club and myself offers condolences to the friends and family of Princess Jasmine.  I had the honor of discussing women’s wrestling with Jasmine at CACs 2008 banquet.  It was great to hear her and Beverly Shade exchange wrestling stories of their international travels together.  She is a huge supporter of female wrestling and I will miss her dearly.  We love you Jasmine!

Cauliflower Alley… a look back

What an emotional night this was for me…..

A Look Back at Cheerleader Melissa vs. Mariko Yoshida at CAC 2006

With the 44th Cauliflower Alley Club Reunion coming up April 13 – 15 at the Gold Coast Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV, it seemed appropriate to take a look back at earlier CAC Reunions. In 2006 Cheerleader Melissa, a Future Legend Award honoree in 2004, presented the Future Legend Award to Mariko Yoshida. The ceremony was very emotional for both ladies, as you can see from these photos by Paul Stratoti. Paul also provided us with his photos of the terrific match between Melissa and Mariko.

Cheerleader Melissa: TNA’s Secret Weapon

I have to admit, I don’t know much about the independent wrestling scene, nor am I as devoted to following SHIMMER as I am to the WWE and TNA. Thanks to being a member of alot of Divas forums and following the sites, my education in the area is improving.
